Research in the sense of security in outer space_

Whilst looking for the sense of security and mental comfort in radically changing environments I mindfully combine my abilities as a designer and educator.

Here are a few examples of the research projects which I co-created.

USER GUIDE 04/12/2018 I collaborated to create guidelines on living in isolation for the European Astronaut Centre  (EAC) of the European Space Agency (ESA).

ESTEC 12/10/2018 — I gave a lecture and co-created workshops on the life in habitats and their designs at the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC).

HABITAT LUNARES, EXPERIMENT UN/SAFE — during the 9th Mission L.E.A.R.N, which was a simulation of life on the Moon, I carried out an experiment UN/SAFE. This experiment had 4 parts and was about building the sense of security in isolation with the use of yoga, meditation, breathing techniques, aromatherapy and correct lighting. I also carried out an audit of the habitat’s design so that in the future it was even more suitable for meeting the needs of its users and ensuring the highest level of comfort.

SKINSSU — SKIN + TISSU (French for fabric). As part of the SKINSSU project, I carried out research in order to find fabric which could be given sensory attributes of the human skin (warmth, softness, right temperature and reaction to pressure). This project referred to the basic need of closeness.

FLORA COSMONAUTICA — a project which touched upon the problem of moisture and quality of air in a space ship and the sterile and uniform character of such a space as well as longing for nature.  Part of the project was introducing a humidifier which, apart from its basic function, was also emitting therapeutic light and diffusing 2 aromatherapy scents. The humidifier catered for the issues of longing for nature (FLORA) during space trips and longing for outer space during the time spent on Earth (COSMONAUTICA).
